The city of London was blitzed by the German airforce today in 1940. It was the first strategic attack on British soil and aimed at destroying industrial targets and civilian morale. Approximately 43, 000 people were killed.

Agree, Europe in total has not contributed much to the war on terror in Afghanistan. When i was in France shortly after the London bombings, French TV were refering to Terrorists as Kamakazi’s instead. I suppose that goes some way into explaing how the French think about this issue.. American forces dropped a bomb on Nagaski, Japan today in 1945, killing approximately 74, 000 people and destorying 30 per cent of the city itself.

Because it is a reflection of our own fears. I suppose the belief is that we are more likely to suffer from a nuclear attack than be hacked to death during a period of religious unrest. Could all change if enough people vote for the Mad Monk, of course. Read more »
