Poet S Corner

Today’s poem was written by Punch regular, “Jay-ded”:

I’ve never been to a Poetry Corner, so I’m really quite excited
I had always wanted to go, but sadly, had never been invited
I had imagined a little stage with bean bags and cushions scattered by
Where hippie types all gathered, smoking bongs and getting high.

A string quartet cd would be heard playing softly through the speakers
While the hippie types would discuss the merits of black or white sneakers
You’d hear a throat being cleared by someone on the stage with a mic
The crowd would go quiet, the lights would dim, a spotlight would shine bright.
