John Singleton

Along with the ghosts of Labor leaders past, Julia Gillard now has to contend with ex-Labor supporter and ad-man John Singleton’s foray into the election campaign.

Out health system is in a delicate condition.

Singleton’s agency Banjo has developed a series of advertisements attacking Labor’s health record on behalf of corporate medical outfit Primary Health Care.

With all the good taste and subtlety we have come to expect from a Singleton campaign, the ads feature a woman dying of cervical cancer, allegedly because she could not afford to have a pap smear due to the Labor Government funding cuts for pathology services.

    It’s no great mystery Sally, take a look at the immigration statistics. Approximately 150,000 (or more) over the last five years around 800,000 people have immigrated to Australia. That’s a massive burden on services in such a short period of time, and that’s why housing, transport, education etc are failing. Read more »

    Two simple solutions: 1/ Increase the Medicare levy. Raise it enough to cover all health issues for all Australians. Just make sure this levy is used solely for health. So what if it increases to 2,3 or 4%? To know you are covered 100%, all of your life must surely… Read more »
