Beatrix Potter

Lonely childhoods can do a lot for a person’s creativity. Beatrix Potter was one such person and were she still alive, she’d be celebrating her 145th birthday today. Potter was said to have created her cast of furry and four-legged characters after spending several years as a young child in the Scottish countryside; experiences that inspired approximately 23 books. As kids we were read endless stories about Peter Rabbit and even had a soup bowl with bunnies running around the side of the edge. Did Beatrix Potter invade anyone else’s childhood?

Poet, illustrator and farmer.
