How often in life do you get something for nothing? Today, The Punch offers you just that.

All you have to do is join our AFL footy tipping and you’ll already have one game right! See, the season started with one match last weekend when the Swans beat the Giants. If you ever forget to tip (or haven’t joined yet), you automatically get the “away” team, which means you got the Swans.

So go to supertipping.heraldsun.com.au, join up and type in code number 278034. Let’s see if we can get more than the 29 in our NRL tipping. And remember, the winner gets to write a Punch column about any topic they choose, subject of course to a bit of editing at our end. Anything else got you feverishly excited today?

For those of you who follow AFL, we’ll have a comp for you guys too in a week or so. But for now, join the NRL comp or suffer a terrible, unspeakable fate. Like being forced to read another one of my pieces in support of anthropogenic global warming.

The NRL tipping comp code is 848154. Or just click on this link and click the brown create/join button and go from there. We’ll talk prizes later. How about a column on the subject of your choice (subject to editing)? In other news, what’s the other news? You tell us.

Join The Punch’s tipping comp and tip against other Punchers! Sign up here and enter the league code 439453.

With the NRL and AFL seasons almost upon us, The Punch has fortuitously stumbled across an ancient parchment. Feasteth thine eyes upon it, and you too shall dwell in the promised land of tipping milk and honey… or some such.

1. Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy (well the Muslim Sabbath day of Friday, anyway)

Friday is the day upon which thy tips must be submitted. At the setting of the sun, thy tips shall be deemed inadmissible.
