Harvey has blamed a torrent of social media abuse as prime reason for his departure. Harvey said the attacks were “vicious and hateful” and, as for the campaign, well, it was “bad timing”. Over 85 per cent of Twitter usage is via mobile devices such as iPhones and Blackberries. In turn, most tweets are done on the run, in public and often in a hurry. Unlike drunk texting, which is one-to-one, tweeting is one-to-many, with your indiscriminate remark about your inappropriate boss now potentially going to hundreds.
