Thomas has no experience in writing articles or in the field of journalism beyond the scope of a few interviews and photos in papers and on the news. His debut for The Punch is the first article Thomas has ever written, and certainly the first to be published.

Upon completing High School last year Thomas decided to undertake a double degree in Law/Arts at the University of Wollongong. Within Arts, Thomas hopes to study both history and politics, while in Law there are many interesting avenues he wishes to explore. Thomas has a keen interest in both history and politics and is always enthusiastic to debate and discuss, and to learn more.

Question Time live, with a guest post from Mr T

(Editor’s note: Our regular coverage of Question Time is below. Thomas is a regular participant in The Punch’s live commentary on activity in the House.)

For those of us who subscribe to the daily rigour of The Punch’s live Question Time chat, the issue of spin - or perhaps the spin endemic - is something of which we are keenly aware.

It appears our current government can spin to a level that the Russian Ballet could only hope to mimic, while the Opposition continues to spin out of control. One claiming a revolution, the other simply going in circles.

Day after day our politicians march into the House of Representatives, arsenals of smear in tow, ready to pounce on their political adversaries. Debate swept behind a smoke screen of sound-bytes and echoing phrases long since coined, the aim is straight for the jugular in an all-or-nothing game of political point scoring. And while spin is not a new concept, it is being taken to dizzy new heights.
