This is the week that Craig Thomson defended himself in Parliament, Schapelle Corby got clemency and we discovered Aussies spend more time drinking booze than doing housework.

Mark Zuckerberg got married, Helen Marston claimed animal experiments wouldn’t help her fight cancer. Movies taught us that NSW would probably win the State of Origin. Pity it didn’t work out that way. Oh, and here at Punch headquarters all the Tim Tams got eaten.

Last month, Katy McCaffrey boarded the Disney Wonder cruiseliner. At some point during the trip, a sneaky thief snatched her iPhone.

Crime on a cruise ship? No way! Anyhow, a little while after she’d left the vessel an informant let McCaffrey know that her phone was in the possession of a cruiseline worker named Nelson.

The informant also revealed that Nelson liked to party, that Nelson had a girlfriend who wears Angry Birds pyjamas, that Nelson could appreciate a beautiful sunset. And as the photos below the fold attest, that Nelson and his mates are massive dorks. The informant was her iPhone.

Last week, the Friday open thread featured an image of a baby hippo. They’re more attractive than daddy or mummy hippos, believe us.

In the interests of naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, here’s an image of a baby dolphin.

It’s Friiiiiiiiiday! What’s on your mind?

Do women need to know when to walk away?

Opposition Leader Isobel Redmond has sparked controversy over her advice that young women should sometimes just ignore discrimination.

Just get on with the job at hand, she said. SA Senator Penny Wong disagreed with the gently gently approach, saying: “I don’t think silence in the face of unfairness leads to greater equality.” Sex Discrimination Commissioner Elizabeth Broderick said if people didn’t complain change wouldn’t happen.

Listening to the talkback radio this morning showed there’s plenty of confusion about the issue. Some people thought she was telling people to stay quiet about sexual harrassment or bullying. What do you think? See what was said below.

Clive Palmer has ramped up his campaign to challenge Wayne Swan at the next election, unveiling a cheesy billboard.

At the same time, he’s refusing to pay a $333 speeding ticket. Most people would just cop the fine. Wonder if speeding fines will be a campaign issue…

It’s Wednesday. What’s on your mind today?

Gillard: Barack, you are not going to believe what’s going on down under in the 51st state. See, we’ve got this little sleazebag called Craig Thomson…
Obama: Tell me more…

Gillard: OK, so he’s been in a bit of hot water lately over his credit card and a bunch of hookers and the rest of it.
Obama: Sure, I’ve heard of him. And from what I understand, your party actually nominated the guy for election after these allegations came out, right?

What’s the worst injury you’ve sustained on a holiday? One UK backpacker has been awarded $44k by a Brisbane court after a bouncer broke his leg in an “incident”.

In a written judgment published late on Friday, Judge David Andrews found that the force used by the bouncer “was more than was reasonably necessary”. Fair or not fair? You decide.

Welcome to Tuesday, what else is on your mind?

At midday all eyes will turn to the House of Representatives, as the Member for Dobell Craig Thomson gives a 30-minute speech addressing the amazing credit card/prostitutes/union funds scandal that has engulfed him and the Gillard Government.

Punchers David Penberthy and the Torii (Maguire and Shepherd) will be watching. Join them in the Cover-it-Live module below as they hope for anything but an anti-climax.

One Puncher is off for a holiday in America soon. Went to the travel agent the other day to get money converted (the AUD was at a 6 month low to the USD on Friday…doh!) and the agent said she’d never had so many people come in to get their money exchanged.

On the other hand, a dip bellow parity has been hailed by some industry figures as good for some Australian industries.

Had any experiences with our high-and-mighty dollar recently? It’s Monday! What’s happening?
