Rose Russo is a freelance journalist who blogs weekly at The Budding Rose (http://www.the-budding-rose.blogspot.com). From an early age she always knew she wanted to be a writer, and drove her parents crazy making them proofread all her short stories. At the age of 12 she attempted to re-write the screenplay of Titanic (who thought a tween could give James Cameron a run for his money?). While it wasn’t perfect and bore an uncanny resemblance to the original, it was a lot of fun to write.

After graduating from Southern Cross University with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in writing, she began her love affair with online media by following blogs. Rose is an office worker by day and blogger by night. She writes in her head at every given opportunity and loves to write about anything, for anyone, to debate everything.

Sex, lies and cleverly concealed videotape

Once upon a time when you engaged in sex, whether within a relationship or casually, the most you had to worry about was who had a condom nearby. Or about remembering to take the pill every day. Now we have to worry about being filmed. So other people can watch us.

Having sex with someone involves a certain amount of trust. It can be argued that you can’t expect trust (or fidelity) with a one night stand or casual sex. But you can and should expect respect. Whatever happened to that?

I think it left the building around the same time iPhones turned up and started to run the show.

Confessions of a failed feminist

I enjoy Two and a Half Men. Does this make me a failed feminist?

Feminists make a great deal of noise when it concerns America’s #1 hit sitcom. Charlie is labelled as misogynist and sexist under a thin veneer of “comedy”.

I understand people’s concern with its 7pm timeslot, but what I don’t understand is why people are so angry. Especially women.

Lacking a bit of attention? Get your gear off

So Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal have stripped off for the cover of Entertainment Weekly. Surprised?

It’s becoming a trend in Hollywood to gain attention through everything but their actual profession -acting.

It doesn’t shock me though that these two got partially naked to promote their new film, Love & Other Drugs. Hathaway, 27, plays liberal artist Maggie Murdock in the movie, opposite Gyllenhaal’s commitment-phobic Viagra salesman Jamie Randall.
