Rebekah Devlin is the News Ltd entertainment editor-at-large.

She has been a journo for 11 years and has been writing entertainment for six years. However she has been surrounded by music her whole life – especially The Beatles, which her father used to play on the record player as loud as the speakers would let him.

Her first solo concert was New Kids on the Block – don’t judge her, it was the 90s.

Worst ARIAs ever?

Nobody wants to be a gatecrasher.

And for viewers of the Arias last night, it felt like we’d stumbled into some raging A-list party and we definitely weren’t invited.

Staged for the first time at the Sydney Opera House, in an ultra-casual outdoor telecast, the awards seemed to be a cracker, but only if you had the all-important gold lanyard around your neck.

With those Facebook geeks-made-good-then-turned-bad immortalised in the new film The Social Network (that opens today) it’s been on my mind (geddit, I made a FB joke) about what life might be like if they never cracked the coding for it.

How would we know people had hooked up, shacked up, broken up or got knocked up?

People’s nights of debauchery would go unnoticed without the obligatory Sunday arvo upload of pics.

Bringing in grown-up ratings but being paid like children

I’m sure $15,000 seems like a lot of money when you’re nine, especially if you break it down into mixed lollies.

But heck, even cobbers are 10 cents now. One dollar’s worth of mixed lollies gets you a few strawberries and cream, a banana, a set of teeth, two snakes and some leftover white jelly beans.

My point is while raising $15k requires a lot of hard work for most of us, the prize money on offer for the winner of Junior Masterchef is laughable in TV terms.

Which song should Powderfinger sign off with?

The end is nigh, well, nigh-ish.

In a farewell tour that would do John Farnham proud, Powderfinger will bid a long, slow goodbye over the next two months, kicking off their Sunsets tour in Newcastle tonight. (Well until their reunion in 10 years, but we’ll gloss over that.)

Close to 300,000 Aussies will take in a show in the tour which winds up in Brissie on November 13, but the big question with seven studio albums to choose from, is which song should be their final one?

“Ben Cousins makes me want to take ice,” was the declaration of one punter into the twitterverse.

Others commented that if coke helped you get a body that ripped, it was time to get snorting.

Cousins said in the introduction of his doco Such is Life that he wanted to “send a powerful message to young people, for that matter all people, about the way drugs affect your life”.

Seven’s handling of Newton a bad look for the network

I’d never been too impressed with Matthew Newton. He always seemed like an arrogant upstart who’d taken a ride on Daddy’s coat tails to get ahead in showbiz.

There was no doubt he was talented, but then again, so are many actors who are waiting on tables around the country, desperate to get their shot.

And when allegations emerged that he’d assaulted Brooke Satchwell, my mind was made up. Only cowards hit women. Actually no, only cowards hit other people, full stop. It doesn’t matter what sex they are, no one “has it coming”, no one deserves violence. So it seems bizarre that here I am having a crack at Channel 7 instead of him.

Update 8.08pm: Joanne has just been eliminated from Masterchef

Whoever triumphs tonight, Australia is the real winner because it means one of Masterchef’s least-liked chefs will be ushered out the door faster than prawns left in the sun.

There is even a facebook group (well there was, until it got pulled down) dedicated to the hating of Sydney contestant Joanne Zalm.

Some of the slurs have even been about her cooking in the Masterchef competition!

Insiders have confirmed what we suspected…. the Sandra Bullock/Scarlett Johansson MTV Awards smooch was a pre-meditated act orchestrated by Bullock herself.

Yep, The Blind Side star rearranged the MTV award schedule so her award could be presented by the blonde bombshell instead of Zac Efron.

Because it seems when you need a profile resurrection, there’s nothing like a bit of girl on girl action to nab those headlines.

Beyonce was right. You’ve been a very bad girl - a very, very bad, bad girl Gaga.

The poplette inflicted senseless pain on British fans when her performance of the song Monster included her being “attacked” and “bitten” on her neck. She then sung with fake blood pouring down her neck before apparently dying in a pool of blood.

This, just hours after 12 people were tragically killed by shooter taxi driver Derrick Bird in Northern England.

As an avid follower of Lost I’d marked this date in my diary a while back and settled in last night, ready to be enlightened. I would finally get some answers.

I was proud of myself for hanging in there, despite being totally confused for the best part of a decade. But all would be revealed, I kept telling myself.
