Life. Most definitely NOT a rehearsal

What do you do with your life when what is left can be counted in years, rather than decades?

When the realisation hits that you are sliding into oblivion?

This new fear is aided and abetted by the overwhelming attitude of the community towards the elderly.

Confession: Movie rage made me ‘assault’ a stranger

It’s not hard to become a serial offender. It’s much harder to avoid becoming one. It’s hardest of all when your offence – serial, nearly serial, or otherwise – is Movie Rage.

This is a seriously under-studied syndrome suffered by usually polite and self-effacing people who go to the movies to see a film.

Not to have lunch, morning or afternoon tea. To see a film.

Facebook: putting readers ahead of the words

Am I missing something here? I don’t Twitter, tried Facebook for about a week and found intelligent and literate friends were writing banal crud.

I know, I know, I’m a dinosaur. What do you expect? I started out communicating mechanically using a cordless, battery-less typewriter.

I now have a bracelet made of old Remington or Royale typewriter keys.

Another year on, another year older

One of the great myths is that we grow old gracefully.

Absolute rubbish. We lurch from being young, active and viable, too old, useless and invisible in the snap of an eye.

There’s nothing graceful about it.
