Growing up in the wilds of country Victoria meant the Army seemed the only feasible way to get a Bachelor of Arts in South East Asian Politics and History. After even the Army didn’t want him, Lachlan fell into programming as his sole source of sustenance. He’s spent his career working on projects ranging between massive high-profile sites and pretty little fun ones.

Now he is a Design Engineer at Atlassian where he attempts to convince both the designers and the engineers that he’s one of them.

Lachlan leads the team behind the highly successful Webjam events promoting web innovation in Australia and has written for ReadWriteWeb. He’s an advocate of open web technologies, speaking passionately about them at various industry events and watering holes. Generally, he’s a great big nerd.

His site is Lachstock.

I killed myself on Facebook, and lived to tell the tale

It was shortly before my wedding. As I assume others do, I spent some time examining my life. Amidst the consideration of my health, my career and my relationship came a question.

What are you doing on Facebook?

There must be people who find Facebook fulfilling, just as there are people who enjoy discussing Kanye West’s latest rant or actually believe the man has a talent for making anything other than a tit of himself. I just happen not to be one of them.
