He has covered major worldwide events including the Beijing Olympics, Melbourne Commonwealth Games, the Super Bowl, the Melbourne Cup, AFL and NRL grand finals, the Australian Open grand slam tennis tournament, the Sundance Film Festival and New York Fashion Week.

Philip Klein is a big talking Texan—a cowboy, in every sense of the word—with a tongue as sharp as his investigative skills.

“Now it’s up to Patrick (McDermott) and his people to either make peace with me, or make war,” Klein has told Woman’s Day, as part of our investigation into Olivia Newton-John’s ex - missing, presumed dead following a 2005 fishing trip.

“If they make war, I will hunt him down like a dog. But if they make peace with me, I will go and have beer with him.”

For David Beckham, actions speak louder than boos

It seemed like any other international sporting event. Beers flowed, and barbeques sizzled, in the car park pre-match.

Kids mimicked their on-field heroes, with the names of superstars Messi and Henry on the back of their pint sized shirts. In all, 93,137 fans turned up at LA’s Rose Bowl overnight — the most-highly attended match in the United States since the 1994 World Cup.

No matter your colours, most supporters were frothing with anticipation to see one of the world’s biggest football franchises FC Barcelona, who had come to town for an exhibition clash against David Beckham and the LA Galaxy. But on this balmy night, we received proof positive that fans here are fair weather supporters.

It must be true, Jon Stewart said so

It’s official. After the death of the world’s most famous newsman last month, Walter Cronkite, the heir apparent has been anointed. Drum roll, please. ‘The most trusted name in news’ is now, err, Jon Stewart. Jon Stewart?

Yes, The Daily Show host. A comedian.

At least, that’s the result of a Time Magazine poll, which surveyed 9000 people. 44 per cent said the faux journalist was their most trusted newscaster now that Cronkite has passed on.

There’s no end to what Sarah Palin has to offer

Sarah Palin said goodbye overnight to the governor’s mansion (barely halfway through her first term) with a picnic in an Alaskan park. Hello, to what? Well, who knows?

The self-described moose-hunting Rottweiler with lipstick didn’t want Alaska, or Russia’s ‘close neighbour’, to be stuck with a “lame duck” chief executive. So, she flew out of office, and into private citizenship.

The decision has left America largely confused. Critics interpret the hockey mum’s resignation as an antecedent to a move from Wasilla to Washington DC to take on Obama in 2012.

Even in death Michael still a cash-cow to Jackson Snr

Rumour has it that if Katherine Jackson is granted permanent custody of Michael Jackson’s children, the brood could be raised by her eldest—and private—daughter Rebbie.

What a relief, when one considers the frightening prospect of Joseph Jackson playing a more permanent role in their upbringing.

Here is a man who has long been accused of ruling the famous clan with an iron fist and who, according to Michael, sat in a chair with a belt in his hand as the Jackson Five rehearsed.
