Roland Harris
Roland graduated in 2008 from Sydney University with a Bachelor in Economics and Politics. After satiating a little post-university wanderlust, a German woman caught his eye and he’s been living there since March 2011 completing a Masters in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at Viadrina European University in Frankfurt an der Oder (the other Frankfurt) Germany. He is also attempting, occasionally with some success, to learn German. His research areas include/will include the intersection of religion/culture and human rights, as well as humanitarian intervention and the emerging Responsibility to Protect doctrine in International Law. He can be found at most dinner parties debating religion until the wee hours.
When he’s not studying, working or ruining dinner parties, he’s reading whatever non-fiction he can get his hands on and taking full advantage of living in a country with Amazon to grow his personal library. He’s slowly learning to live with the Germans, including becoming increasingly partial to the local Bundesliga team - Mainz 05, although he still has to try and contain his childish excitement when it snows to avoid looking like a complete Ausländer (foreigner).
