Matthew Di Leo

Following a Masters in International Politics, Matthew is now slowly drifting along the calm blue sea of post-studial life.  After an eventful undergrad at Curtin, he joined the growing horde of West Aussies escaping the Barnett/Grylls regime by hitching a ride over to Australia’s cultural capital. Melbourne Uni took him under its wing and let him write a thesis on the republic which at least three people (including his mother) have read. He now lives in the inner-north and enjoys long macs because lattes are old hat.

In between long sessions at the bar debating the finer points of constructivism, republicanism, or countless other isms he writes the occasional opinion piece and house blog. One day he’ll be forced to join the real world but for the moment he’s happy stalling for time.

"A teacher at Geelong Grammar had criticised her for using words that were too long, which had left her confused and had made her doubt her ability to write essays. She became ''quite distressed'' when her English marks began to fall." I can sympathise. My scholastic mentors conveyed to me a causal relationship… [read more]

Change Up! says:

I have no problem paying my taxes. As a single, childless person on a very decent income, I can afford it and not have my life severely altered. Plus I understand that my taxes paying for things like schools, childcare and infrastructure is ultimately a good thing. A better community is better for me… [read more]
