Brad’s artistic expression started at a young age, emulating his grandfather with his love for gadgets and the camera. In his early twenties Brad took a valued decision to study a Diploma in Fine Arts, majoring in Painting and Photography.

In December of 2005 he was thrust into the spotlight as an unknown to media stalwarts while covering the Cronulla riots. He was encouraged by other photojournalists on the day to submit images to News Limited and Fairfax. After impressing pictorial editors, several of his images were published in Sydney metropolitan newspapers. However, it was the taste of his very first published riots image which made page six of The Australian that would drive a hunger and passion in him for photojournalism. Six months later Brad joined Cumberland Courier Newspapers, landing his first posting at The Manly Daily.

In June 2009 he was assigned to the Northern District Times, covering some of this year’s major stories, such as the community rally to evict convicted pedophile Denis Ferguson from his Ryde home, and the Lin family murders in Epping. Brad’s coverage of the Lin family funeral earned him a spot as a finalist and received a Highly Commended in general news in the 2009 Nikon-Walkley Awards.

Michael S says:

"A teacher at Geelong Grammar had criticised her for using words that were too long, which had left her confused and had made her doubt her ability to write essays.
