In April 2011, Brad founded a movement called ‘Welcome to Australia’ designed to give everyday Australians an opportunity to personally and practically engage in the task of cultivating a culture of welcome in their local communities and nation. Welcome to Australia is now a national organisation with branches in 6 cities and a large network of volunteers, partners and high-profile ambassadors.
In early 2012, Prime Minister Julia Gillard appointed Brad as a People of Australia Ambassador in early 2012. Welcome to Australia was responsible for the Walk Together events in 11 cities during Refugee Week 2012 where more than 10 000 people took to the streets to ask for a more inclusive public discourse.
Brad is married to Rachel and the father of three beautiful children. He is the Lead Pastor of the Activate Community in Bowden, Adelaide and likes art house film, indie music and nursing his addiction to specialty coffee.
