Alan Kirkland was appointed CEO of CHOICE in August 2012.
Alan was previously Chief Executive Officer of Legal Aid NSW, where he secured funding for a range of innovative services for homeless people and people experiencing financial stress during the global financial crisis. Prior to that, Alan was Executive Director of the Australian Law Reform Commission.
Alan has a long-term commitment to addressing social and economic disadvantage, which he has pursued as a member of the Social Security Appeals Tribunal and the Board of the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS). He currently sits on the Prime Minister’s Council on Homelessness.
Alan has degrees in Arts and Law from UNSW and an Executive MBA from AGSM.
