At about 3 o’clock tomorrow morning AEDT Tiger Woods will face a room full of “friends and colleagues” in Florida, and the world’s TV networks, to take the first step in rehabilitating his image after three months of tawdry sex scandals.

Can he get his intense focus back?

According to the golfer’s official website: “Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future, and he plans to apologize for his behavior.”

“While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between him and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him. He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends, and that’s what he’s going to discuss.”

He won’t be taking questions, and the media will be corralled in a room a mile away.

Celebrity spruiker Max Markson was on the radio this morning saying all Tiger needs to do to be forgiven by the public and his sponsors is win again.

Markson thought most blokes probably think he is a legend anyway.

Nike has stood by him while other backers have fled.

If he pulls it off tomorrow it will be the start of one of the biggest comebacks ever, from one of the biggest downfalls ever.

What does he need to say to get back on track?

Also how come the media always beats up celebrity heterosexual casual encounters ? how about equal media attention for the celebrity homosexual and bisexual casual encounters as well ??...start practicing what you (media in general) preach Equal Opportunity !

“Anyone here female and want a root?”

He doesn’t have to say anything.  The only reason he might is to get his sponsors back on side.  Other than that he has revealed himself to be a human being, with human flaws, and not the paragon that he, his minders and the media created.

Seriously, who honestly cares? He’s a golfer. Who he bonks is between him, the bonkees and his wife (while he is still married to her).

He should tell it like it is. The game needs him more than he needs the game. He is the only individual on tour who can change the fortunes of a tournament. As for the other players slagging off Tiger, what a pack of hypocritical a-holes. They would not be earning anywhere near as much money as they currently do if Tiger were not involved in the game.

    • SLF says:

He will deliver a seriesof ‘heartfelt’ platitudes with little meaning other than for PR purposes. He will also probably blame sex addiction or some other such made up mental excuse.

What would be really interesting would be if he came out with the “wife didnt understand me, changed after kids, not getting any at home’ excuses and was actually honest. Or alternatively just say that he is a rich and powerful bloke who likes sleeping with as many women as he can.

Hopefully he won’t say anything. The idea that he needs to be forgiven is laughable; forgiven by whom? The public? It’s none of our business.

    • Julie Coker-Godson says:

      09:35pm | 20/02/10

Precisely Dan.  I don’t know why he should feel the need to say anything at all.  He can talk privately with his sponsors: this public humiliation exercise is not warranted.  And who are we to say “we forgive you”, we haven’t got the right to say that to anyone.  As you say, its none of our business.  I’ll never understand the media beat up over these issues. I would rather they found something more meaningful to write about.

I recon the paparazzi will spend more time photographing Tiger at night that on the golf course. You can just see them - hiding in bushes, checking in the room next to tiger’s, hiring a room in the building opposite the hotel. A female approached him within 10 Klm and it will be splashed across the globe.

And I don’t care what he says.

I apologise for the suffering I have caused my wife and family. I realise now that my behaviour was borne of a deep spiritual vacuum and that I have sinned. Since I have allowed the lord - praise be to jeebas - into my life things are going to be much better. I now hope that my wife and I can be allowed to commence the healing process. I would like to take this opportunity to announce the launch of a new charity to help sexually addicted golfers to be known as the Woody Foundation.

I regret getting caught. I truly regret the almost insane media and public interest in my private life. I am saddened that my family had to endure my personal failures not just privately but in front of the media. I am deeply ashamed that my mother knows I put it out there (I mean it was obvious when I had the kids, but now it’s a bit more obvious).

But as to actually going out with 600 women in a year… ah, not so much.

I made the mistake of picking up Warnie’s mobile phone instead of mine. Every time I rang one of the numbers a bird turned up. What could I do? I had to entertain the young ladies as best I could. I asked them if they wanted some golf lessons or would they rather play hide the sausage. They all elected the latter. Gee world, I’m real sorry.

I just want to see him come back, win the Masters and as he accepts his green jacket to announce, “I f**ked a different chick after each round and I still won!”

I also think the media should begin referring to him by his real name Eldrick.
Boy’s momma call him Eldrick, I’m gonna call him Eldrick!

Marriage breakdown happens every day. I was swimming outside the flags. My actions were symptomatic of a failing relationship. We will divorce and an amicable property settlement has already been reached.

Despite the past acrimony between myself and wife and the sadness for both of us we realize that we will always have our children in common. We will ensure they are loved well cared for. We will not use them as weapons against each other. We will not fight in front of the children and share in their upbringing. We will make sure they get to know us both as parents who love them.

Shit happens. I’m off to golf .

His private life is of concern to me, I admire his skills on the golf course but thats my involvement in his life, simply as a viewer. It will probably affect the Americans more with God and Country and all that junk. But he only has one life to live and it does not belong to the world

      What Tiger should say:

“I’m a billionaire sporting superstar and I’m going to bang every hot piece of a$$ I can possibly get my hands on and if you have a problem with that or are even remotely surprised by it then stop living in fantasyland and grow a pair of testicles BUT cos you’re all a bunch of idiots that may possibly believe this I’ll stand here and look contrite and sorry for what I’ve done so I can sign with some more sponsors and make some more money. Y’all wanna be like Tiger, yo!”

The Australian Prime Minister is oft accused of ‘‘micro managing’’ - HA! who do ya think he took lessons from?
Woods may just be a golfer, but when a golfer gets the sponsorship deals and air time that this control-freak-of-a-golfer does he IS influential on society. Anyone that doesn’t get how seriously sik this dude is ‘just because it’s about sex’, needs to find a new moral compass.

      Sex addiction is about power.

(disclaimer: I haven’t the statement as yet)

    • Eric says:

      08:41am | 21/02/10

“Sex addiction” is a feminist myth intended to pathologise normal male behaviour.

    • 6clegs says:

      01:40pm | 21/02/10

“Eric”,  ‘‘normal male behaviour’’  - sorry but, ????? ?!

You, “Eric’’ might not be able to keep it zipped, but believe me, real ‘normal males’ can, and do.
“It’’ might be ‘‘normal’’ for undisciplined young males,  or emotionally damaged men who cannot control their emotions* to bonk every available female who crosses their path, and that, (real) normal men might fantasize about ‘‘it’‘, yes.
But fantasizing, and acting out every single fantasy would be what the male neanderthal did.

      * aka their 2nd brain.

Now, i’m off to bash my head against the nearest wall for engaging with “Eric” on a gender issue. . . LOL

    • Martin says:

Tiger needs to take it on the chin and answer the hard questions. It is only when he faces his public and is straight with them that he will get past this. He got into this trouble in part because he was able to keep it hidden. He cant fix this by making the healing process hidden as well.

    • asproella says:
