Revenge. It doesn’t get a whole lot better than this
Last month, Katy McCaffrey boarded the Disney Wonder cruiseliner. At some point during the trip, a sneaky thief snatched her iPhone.
Crime on a cruise ship? No way! Anyhow, a little while after she’d left the vessel an informant let McCaffrey know that her phone was in the possession of a cruiseline worker named Nelson.
The informant also revealed that Nelson liked to party, that Nelson had a girlfriend who wears Angry Birds pyjamas, that Nelson could appreciate a beautiful sunset. And as the photos below the fold attest, that Nelson and his mates are massive dorks. The informant was her iPhone.
Which, after a few weeks out of her hands, automatically beamed her photos into the online “cloud” - where peoples’ photos and information are stored in the cyber ether so they can be accessed anywhere. McCaffrey decided to upload all the photos on Facebook and make the album available to all Facebook users.
At the time of publishing this post, more than 17,000 people had shared her album on the social network since. It has spread around the world.
Some of the choice photos Nelson snapped and Katy uploaded include… The big guy chillin’ with his buds:
Katy captioned the following photo: “Maybe [his girlfriend] saw him pose with these two pirate hookers on board the Disney Wonder.”
Happily for her, Nelson was also wearing his name-tag in this picture…
In reply to some commenters, McCaffrey wrote: “I have alerted the officials of the Disney Cruiseline and forwarded them the photos. Hopefully I’ll get my phone back and maybe some free passes to Disneyland.”
USA Today have confirmed with the cruiseline that the iPhone has been recovered and would be returned to McCaffrey when the boat reached the shore again. It’s not the first time digital trickery has come down on the side of consumers. There have been a number of stories about criminals who haven’t realised that the laptop they just stole has a webcam the owner can operate remotely.
