If anyone is counting down the days until Parliament rises for the year it must be Julia Gillard, who would welcome a few months to get things back on course. This morning she was greeted with more bad polling, with Labor still in a losing position on two-party-preferred and Tony Abbott’s approval rating on the move north. Join us live from 2pm for the fourth-last Question Time of the year.

Your comment:”... with Labor still in a losing position on two-party-preferred and Tony Abbott’s approval rating on the move north ...”

Hmmm, where are all the *Abbott - unelectable!* trolls today?

      I don’t know,
but the abbott electable trolls are just above this comment.

Wow, Sen Wong is a real joke. Her answer to a question is a vitriolic attack on the LIBs, and she never ever actually adresses the question.  Her performance is emlematic of the failure of the ALP to realise that two wrongs dont make a right, and its not sufficient to argue that the LIBS were just as bad!

That’s it Sven, keep banking on the utterly irrelevant preferred PM poll.
Anyone who has half a clue about politics knows that the 2PP poll is a much more accurate reflection of potential election results. And the Coalition is leading.

At this point in time it’s not really much of a comfort, but if someone like Wilkie has a hissy fit about something this week and calls for a no-confidence motion….

It’s unlikely to happen but one can dream smile

Try telling that to Kim Beazley, Tim. Abbott has never come close in a single one of the countless Preferred Prime Minister polls. His unpopularity saved Labor, and with that 100% strike rate, why wouldn’t you bank on him ?

@Sven - spot on Sven - dont take any notice of poor old Timmy - he picked Abbott to be PM ! hahahahhhhhhh

Sven Gali :  You do have enough nous to know that it is the vote for the two major parties that counts , don’t you ?
Incidently the Coalition have been leading in polling since the formation of the mish mash Gillard Labor /Greens /independent worlds wobbliest govt..
One thing for sure , Tony will be here but Gillard’s future looks bleak.

I have no idea what you’re trying to say Sven. That election saw a fairly close 2PP Poll and a fairly close election- thus supporting my point.

By its very nature, 2PP is a closer representation of election results than Preferred PM. Fact.

And it was Green preferences that saved Labor.

@ Notshow- *Yawn* Your “Stupid Labor troll” act bores me now. Time for you to get something new.

Yeah well explain why abbott beat miss gillard 73 seats to 72, only to be put into power by 3 wishy washy guys and 1 gelding (oakshott).
She is not the true leader of this country and because of this situation miss gillard and labor are piss weak, as they cannot make the tough decisions.

    • Sven Gali says:

      02:14am | 23/11/10

Kim Beazley won the two party preferred and lost the 1998 election, Tim.

The swing to the Greens almost cost Labor the 2010 election. Thanks to Tony Abbott’s unpopularity, the miniscule swing to the Coalition was inconsequential by comparison.

Nevertheless, I’m sure you’ll be thrilled with the latest Newspoll showing the two party preferred at 52% for the Government compared to 48% for the Opposition ... a 4 point reversal in just 2 weeks. It also shows a corresponding improvement in the Prime Minister’s Preferred PM rating of 5 points up to 54%, and a corresponding fall of 3 points for Tony Abbott’s to 31%. Sweet dreams.

      I hope he gets pregnant!

Oh and be assured - Tony Will be here but Joolya remains very much in doubt.

Gillard must be tired of looking behind her all the time—and wondering what can go bung next. No one could have created more of a mess than she has.Nor cost Australia more.

Looks like Turnbull has been caught with his hand in the honey jar - $10 million shares in a company that is set to profit from the NBN ! Wow ! Probably explains why he has only been going half hearted at his assignment for Abbott to wreck the NBN ! What dills are these Liberals - left over sludge from Johnny Eyebrows era.

    • BobbyDan says:

      07:10pm | 22/11/10

Did Turdbull declare his interest in shares with NBN and still vote?

If he did OK, if not he is a grotty money grubber like all the rest and not the Saviour of the LIBs. as he has been touted to be.

At least Turnbull has some idea about how to be a politician! Grabbing a piece of the cake is par for the course, it’s only to be expected.  It’s the sheer hypocr isy that’s staggering!  He’s stood up in parliament and followed on with Abbott’s wrecking attempts while betting for the NBN with his own money!  It doesn’t really generate trust?

@acotrel - this is the same Turnbull who tried to bring down a PM with a fake email is it acotrel ? Politician - he cant even spell the word fella !
