Federal Housing Minister Tanya Plibersek reckons she’d be pretty uncomfortable about convicted pedophile Dennis Ferguson living in her street.

Ms Plibersek, who has young children, told Punch TV she would alter the family’s regime if she learned someone like Ferguson had moved into her community.

You can see what she called an old-fashioned take on the subject in the video of this week’s episode.

Sounds like another wishy washy NIMBY to me. Hardline against child sex offenders isn’t trying to make sure that offender doesn’t reoffend- Hardline is being willing to pull the trigger in a firing squad to make absolutely sure that the offender doesn’t reoffend. (and yes, I do support capital punishment for convicted pedophiles, drug traffickers and terrorists)

Who in their right mind would put the interest of someone like Dennis Furguson ahead of those of thier children, in my mind it’s madness to ask anyone to do so, certainly if I’m going to err, I will do so in favour of protectin g my children, indeed any child ahead of a repeat offending pedophile .
As parents, if we did anything less, we would be condemned and judged as unfit to look after our own.
I belive strongly that pedophiles are right at the bottom of any human consideration, it’s clear that they have none of their victims, and law makers should think along the lines of the “3 strikes and your in” system in some states of the USA , only I would make it 2 strikes or even 1strike, that is, if you are convicted of this type of crimes you go to jail for life, end of problem .

Paedophiles are never rehabilitated and are always a danger to kids.Sounds as if the public are now a danger to Ferguson and he’ll have to be locked up again for his own protection.Kids must come first.

Joe Hockey also stated on air last week that he would not be comfortable and he understood the concerns of the general public about this situation.  I too, would not be at ease.

However, the question remains: Who assesed that he was fit to be released back into society and why isn’t the Govt. of that jurisdiction accountable and own the burden of locating Mr Ferguson?
