unless there are no children in the relationship absolutely…...of course you could go with the theory that whoever is getting hit is also the victim be it man or woman who is on the receiving end.

@Eric - is that another study done by the University of the Glaringly Obvious?

What did it cost the taxpayer for that one?

Actually, RealDave, it’s an article on a blog - so it didn’t cost the taxpayer a cent. Though it does make some very salient points about the real causes of domestic violence and the failure of current programs to address the issues.

Oh well, you can post a link but you can’t make the reader click. smile

Children are always going to be a victim when one parent is violent with the other. They are certainly still the most vulnerable person in the picture.

Additionally study show that quite a few (though of course not all) will adopt the model of one of the parents later in life. They have a good chance of becoming either a DV perpetrator or a DV victim as a result ot witnessing this as a child.

After watching an ABC programme this week about factory workers in China, I wonder to myself. Is the money these Chinese property investors use to buy up many domestic homes in Australia coming from the exploitation of Chinese workers?
If you saw the show and saw how the workers are treated you wouldn’t want their money here.

Tarzan, I completely agree.  I also watched ‘Foreign Correspondent’ and I believe the Chinese are the ultimate GRUB employers! The ‘level playing field’ is not level.  Australian industries compete with inferior Chinese wages and conditions because our importers indirectly live off the exploitation of workers overseas.

Capitalism at its finest without the protection of organised Unions.

      Isn’t it grand?

Best of all, not only are Chinese workers being exploited, poisoned etc we sacked a whole bunch of Aussie/Western workers to do it!

But at least we get cheaper electronics and big arsed Plasma TV’s out of it…if you still have a job of course….

We should all boycott Apple, there spokesperson who did not appear on camera said as much that it is not their fault that the employers treat their employees with contempt
Also on TV Grand designs with Kevin McCloud there was a millionaire who had made his millions out of the slum people by exploiting them .The young Indian girl who was a good English speaker ,said it was safe to walk around alone at any time in that God awful place,.Which says a lot for the community spirit but oh! the filth.Look out for the second installment.

My week’s been very busy, thanks for asking, Lucy.  Something happened today that has made my week, or possibly, month.  “Christopher Pyne has confirmed you as a friend”.  Yeah that’s right.  We’re friends now.  We go way back.

FYI Punchers a good article by Jonathon Green on the way that reporters have ignorned the substance of Hockey’s 9 point plan and instead reported it as political gossip. Best part is, at the same time Green actually does discuss the policy - he even publishes it! Someone over at the ABC has been listening to the audience feedback:
