Apologies for a serios breach of manners and ommission on my part.
( Didnt want to be too self indulgent by going thru all the results)
Doggies also lived up to Gibbos famous accolade, looking like a good year.
      To make amends:
Never since the days of Terry Lamb ,Mortimers, Bella et al, have such a worthy team worn the Blue and White….,

Bella?!?! Marty Friggin Bella?!?! The same useless muppet that dropped the ball on the kick-off of the 1994 Grand Final, setting the tome that lost us the game…THAT Marty Bella?!?!

One of the most useless and softest front rowers to have ever played the game, and from what I hear ‘round the traps’, one of the most un-liked players first grade players of the era.

Don’t feel bad Dave. MarK and Chongy are both Tigers fans.

That’s the nice thing about sport, it transcends politics.

In the Murdoch press the other day Jeff Kennett wrote an article saying how good the quarter acre block housing was in Melbourne.  And how you can play cricket in the backyard.  I remember when he was in power, and changed the planning laws so four units could be built on those housing sites.  In suburbs such as Caulfield, many old family homes were demolished, and high density living replaced them - all due to Jeff Kennett! What’s the story with that guy.  Before he was elected he appeared dippy, and in government he sold off the mental hospitals, and schools, and gave Melbourne a casino and Federation Square!  Speaking of that light still hasn’t fallen on the dodgy tendering process for the casino?

acotrel…you’ve gone from being entertainingly loopy to being downright obsessed, filled with a vitriolic hatred.

@JIm You guys are really big on the wishful thinking.  It’ll take more than that to change NSW.

    • Aitch B says:

      11:39am | 28/03/11

      @acotrel

      Am I reading you correctly?

Did Jeff Kennett force those poor people in suburbs such as Caulfield to sell their homes to developers, thereby making good money?

Or perhaps he forced them to develop the sites themselves, thereby making even more good money?

I would say you’re in fine form this morning, Alan, but I can’t….. obviously the NSW election result has totally fried your brain!

Oh, and by the way….. the initial plan to have a casino was Joan Kirner’s idea.

To me , the modern (post Keating) ALP bears little remblence to the Labor ideals of fairness, equity etc, as the modern LNP bear much if any resemblance to the party of Fraser and Anthony.

What’s on my mind? Fridays newsletter from my kid’s state-run primary school.

They often have “ads” for things like after school care groups, holiday activities etc. An recent example could be The Way Christian Church kids disco.

However, last Friday they ran an ad for The Reconnection. http://www.thereconnection.com/

Allegedly after the workshop the “children can then use the healing frequencies on themselves (self-healing) on family, friends and pets”

Look a the video on the link.

There is something terribly wrong about a state school recruiting children for a snake-oil, faith-healing scam. Well, I think so.

Eric Pearl is good but, skeptics haven’t even heard of him yet..

    • Shane says:

      08:48am | 28/03/11

So? I’m sure they either paid for the ad or the shcool’s policy is to not charge for ads. Either way, they’re not in classrooms. It relies on parents (that’s you!) making the judgment on whether or not your child attends. They’re not recruiting at the school gates… essentially they’re asking your permission. You simply ignore it. Fine.

“But Shane, what about separation of church and state?! LOLZ”

This argument holds water when it comes to dealings between church heirarchy and state. But in reality the “church” is made up of people, so unless you’re arguing for the separation of people and state, then you’re out of luck. People forget that quite often actually… the chruch is not a formless mass of rules. It is made up of people like you, me, my neighbours, the teachers, firemen, etc… It’s so thoroughly entwined into society that suggesting it is seperate from the state is just inane.

ps I think these specific guys are obviously a little wacko. If anything, argue that point, rather than the fact that it’s religion.

    • Joel B1 says:

      09:33am | 28/03/11

      @ Shane

Almost Shane, but by publishing a faith-healing scam the school automatically gives it credibility. Where do you draw the line? Church groups? I think drawing the line faith-healing scams is a good place to start.

The school doesn’t charge for ads, it’s like a community service for kids. Department policy is “no commercial ads”. The Reconnection charge like a wounded bull BTW. Check out the costs for “seminars”.

      The Reconnection:
“Patients also commonly see a circle of doctors wearing white coats, conferring and guiding the healings. They can be seen talking in the circle, yet they can’t be heard. Another regular is a young Native American girl who places a leather band with shiny, square ornaments on your forehead. Often times a Native American male also comes and stands in the room. (We are not yet sure whether he’s a chief or a shaman.) Another visitor is a very tall, handsome angel, usually described as eight, nine or ten feet tall with huge, densely feathered white wings in scalloped rows. I am told that he stands behind with his arms around my waist, peering over my right shoulder, silently guiding my hands. Many of these angels seem to have their own specific scents: flowers, incense, and herbs – in particular, rosemary.”

      Ahhh, ain’t that lovely!

Oh absolutely bonkers they are, don’t get me wrong. Sorry if I misinterpretted the tone of your first post. I thought your problem was with the “state-run” nature of the school and the fact that religion is involved in any way. You’re perfectly reasonable to draw the line with this mob.

    • acotrel says:

    • Robby Hart says:

Already I’m sick to death of all the “experts” telling us why Labor lost NSW. Everyone in Australia who can read already knew. Paedophiles, corruption, blatant misuse of public property and so much more made it obvious it was a collective thing and had not a thing to do with O’Farrell at all. It was drover’s dog time.

The problem for the Libs of course is now they have to fix all those things that are easy from Opposition and impossible from government. Won’t be long and Barry will have aged visibly.

The Labor survivors are the ones I worry about. What on earth do they have to do for the next X years? nothing so that’s what they’ll do. Build their own little empires oputside politics at our expense. There’s no point them even turning up to Parliament is there?

    • MarK says:

      09:55am | 28/03/11

      Yeh I saw that.

I noted with much relief that those involved in the black masks smashing property, looting, vandalising, throwing objects at police and in general acting in a violent, physical and destructive way at no times carried signs proclaiming any leader to be someone’s bitch or referred to a leader as witch.

They also took the perfectly civil line of not accusing anyone of being a liar, then again the Tories had said they were going to do what they did I guess…but whatever.

Nice to see the left run a demonstration properly where signs saying nasty things are not in evidence.

They sure dodged a bullet there eh. That’s the Union movement though. Strict on those signs. Combet I am sure would have approved.

NSW Labor handed Barry an easy win.  They wanted to lose, you know its hard work making up stories and scoffing platter lunches.  New Barry, full of hope, or at least hoping that his vagueness doesn’t commit him to anything is thinking “I’m the premier now and any prawn sandwiches on the platters are mine”
...... its good to be the king, at the beginning anyway.

Nothing beats the anger of a leftist on a cause to get a grant.

Discovering ones Aboriginality is of course an important passage of right that needs to affirmed by western courts.

      Love it.

As the lady, err scratch that, the crusader says her Aboriginality is in her heart. I weep with the humanity of it all.

I love how the “owners” of my country use the courts to ensure their rights. Nothing like a bit of censorship to ensure that grant money keeps flowing.

      Awesome stuff.

Do keep us informed Badger. your obsession with BoltA is quite humorous. Keep reporting the news. Good boy.
