A great film, but as time goes by, I realise that it doesn’t quite stand up. For one thing the fact that (SPOILER) the gay guy was responsible for the murder is both simplistic and predictable. Still, the performances were wonderful; Spacey was brilliand and truly deserved his Oscar and Benning should have won the Oscar.

The workers at Paradigm Printing in Wodonga need help from Barnaby Joyce!  Their boss is stripping the assetts from his company, shutting the business, and avoiding paying worker’s entitlements.  The government will be retraining the workers to equip them for other jobs.  The only thing is THERE ARE NO OTHER JOBS!  Year ago we had ‘bottom of the harbour schemes’ which enabled ‘assett stripping’, - they were outlawed.  The situation at Paradigm is simply a slow version!  In every country municipality there are ‘Community Development Officers’.  Most are as useless as breasts on a bull.  The system is failing.  It’s obviously a job for Barnaby, the new shadow minister for regional development!  He should get off his backsideand do something for once!

American Beauty has long been one of my favourite movies. Must watch DVD again soon to see if it’s still as good as I remember it.
