Welcome to Friday @ The Punch

On this day in 1999 Australia held a referendum asking two questions. The first was should Australia become a republic, the second whether the constitution should be amended to include a preamble. Neither amendments were passed.  What did you vote for? Has your opinion changed?

I voted yes to the republic and no for the preamble. Would do the same thing tomorrow if another referendum were to be held.

I voted yes for both (worked well for me didn’t it just?)

I am still waiting for the yes vote to my 3 day weekend proposal….

I was 18.. While I am not certain that I recall which way I voted, I am sure that I would vote the same way again.

I, too, was only 18 at the time…while I don’t remember how I voted, I do remember being very annoyed that I had to go vote whilst hungover!

I would more than likely vote yes if we had to go back again today.

I was an emphatic yes on the republic and an apathetic yes (if that’s possible) on the preamble. My republican convictions haven’t weakened, only hardened.
