Up here in the Sunshine State we are experiencing the effects of the ALMIGHTY GFC, as are all of our fellow Australians. Our premier is selling the farm and we are told we have to tighten our belts. We are moving ahead up here in the smart state, we are going fully automated on our toll paying roads and bridges. We were told we had to be fully automated by the 30th of June or else. Now it’s the 3rd of July and I have found out what the or else is. My fellow cane toadiands are albeit a bit belated queuing up to register for the new E-TOLL there is a special designated place where you can do so…...the E-TOLL PLACE. So the demand on the services of the E-TOLL PLACE are as you can imagine quite high. So high in fact that the demand of the car park has been found it wanting. There is nowhere else to park except for the street. And ain’t that just grand the ever present Queensland Police Force is there willing and able booking these poor motorists for illegally parking, Anna wins both ways. Truly our taxes are working for us.

@ES: Turnbull’s trotting out that old ‘the only poll that matters…’ cliche ignores the fact that it ain’t the only poll that matters, as past opposition leaders like Nelson and Crean could tell him. I bet Turnbull wasn’t saying that when Nelson’s polls were bad.

I am fed up with all of the network stations taking their regular programs off the air all week this week to show yet another “Michael Jackson Special”.

I know the man died and yes it is sad, but freaking hell… when you read the online TV guide at 7pm that shows How I Met Your Mother on at 7:30, the last thing you expect is when H&A finishes is to be informed HIMYM is not on this week as some 5 year old story on MJ is being shown instead…...

That’s my beef for the week, I feel much better now!!!

Look, I am forever indebted to Kevin Rudd for deposing Howard, but his abuse of the language is getting worse every day. You’d think he’d be relaxing into the job if anything but these days he talks like a low level bureaucrat. Is he afraid of being himself, with all those naff catchphrases and fake Ozspeak? As shadow foreign minister he seemed very articulate, and his essays in the Monthly show some vision, so he’s obviously got the goods. But lately he’s excruciating! Barnaby Joyce is right about the word “decisive”. Not to mention the insufferable alliteration we had to endure last week with the fake, false, fraudulent email…
