In Australia, which is a democratic Country, in case you are unaware of it, ‘A person is Innocent unless proven guilty.’ in a court of law.
The Liberal party,the media and their supporters are not A Court Of Law’ and yet they sadly are deluded enough to believe that they have the qualifications to pass judgement upon Craig Thompson.

It is odd how Abbott is blatantly attempting to associate Craig Thompson to Julia and they Labor party when he is an Independent MP.
Is he is forgetting or conveniently forgetting that Peter Slipper was a close friend and colleague of his and others in his Liberal party.
Peter Sliiper was a   National Party MP, A Liberal Party MP and an LNP MP representing the Liberal National Party in the seat of Fisher before he chose to become an Independent.
After all the years that Peter Slipper was a friend,a colleague and an Liberal National party member the onus of what ever Peter Slipper has done or might have done is the sole responsibility of the Liberal National Party and not the ALP or the Prime Minister.

Dspite court cases against ALP members of the HSU, despite the Obeid court case and the involvement of NSW ALP minister, despite the Fairwork findings, the 150 criminal charges against the ALP sanctioned member for Dobell. Despite the ongoping Victorian police investigation into the AWU scandal. Despite the corruption hearing taking place in NSW at the moment. We still have people willing to vote ALP.

Doesn’t matter what you do if you are an ALP member. Some people have no morality or an ounce of ethics. These are the people the ALP are relying on.

Like it or not Thompson was elected as a Labor candidate not an Independent and only became an Independent when it looked as though the trouble he was in would impact the Labor party . The Labor Party bailed him out to the tune of $350,000 to stop him going bankrupt which would have seen a by election and Abbott take power. Any suggestion that Thompson and the Labor party aren’t implicated in this farce is laughable.
  To fall back on the excuse that he is not a Labor Party member when these supposed offences took place before he was elected as a Labor member and has been protected ever since makes a mockery of the system and those making these excuses as much to blame as the PM.

Kerryn - Just because you are paid monthly doesn’t mean you have to give a months notice.
It will depend on what Award/Registered agreement you are covered by, your actual contract of employment and how long you have been employed there.
Perhaps contact Fair Work Ombudsman to check your rights and obligations.

I love Rebel Wilson and I think she’s great at what she does, but the term ‘skinny b——’ is so offensive. If I called someone a ‘fat b——’ it would be considered horrible, but it’s apparently totally OK to make rude comments about naturally thin girls.

Other ones I hate are ‘only a dog wants a bone’ and ‘REAL women have curves’ . Rude, offensive and hypocritical. If you like using those phrases, reconsider what kind of a person you are.

We share so many interests, subotic.  After being inspired by a African-American history month reading list, I am reading Nell Painter’s “A History of White People”, which traces the history of the construction of race in western society, starting with ancient Rome and Greece through to the Jim Crow laws in the United States.  Absolutely fascinating to read how the idea of what is it to be “white” has shifted over time.  Certainly makes one question the way some people self-identify.

Must admit, having a blended multi-racial family (Caucasian/ Filipino & African-American/ Latino) myself, I get right into that whole “identity” thing with a passion.

I’ve got a number of books lined up throughout the month, mostly with a Hip-Hop undercurrent running thru them, but obviously the whole African-American identity plays a major role in the books.

All I gotta do now is find a book linking Ancient Aliens to the African-American proto-Islamic Hip-Hop movement and I’m home….
