Shes a troll- one of a new breed of rubbish “journo’s” fromt he ABC, we’ll never have another Maxine or Kerry, all other are just plain soot.

Won’t bother with the ‘Twit’, but I remember first seeing this gal 3 years ago on Lateline when Mr. Jones was away, and I thought she was fresh and interesting. Quite bold, too, which is good for a current affairs show because it draws the interviewee to be forthright.
Apparently she’s made some mistakes on air i.e. when she’s at work, but that’s OK, cause I or anyone else who is prone to respond here, has never made a mistake at all.

She really shouldn’t point the finger at Barnaby. grin

Good for you bringing up the Barnaby Joyce incident.

The face pulling etc basically reflected poorly on Ms Trioli’s professionalism, a childish reaction to a woman who too often allows her own personal political leaning interfere with a proper interview.

      I reckon she’s hot!

I think Virginia is great - even she does think she’s Michael Rowland

      I’m Ron Burgundy?

Dammit! Who put a question mark on the end!?

    • Joady says:

      08:49pm | 15/11/10

      Maybe it was Michael Rowland…

    • Mr. Grey says:

      12:23am | 16/11/10

Trioli should never be allowed to work in front of a camera again. This birk is obviously not able to control herself and is an embarrassment to the ABC, her workmates and herself.

    • Lee Goddard says:

Are we in a time warp or something?

This is old news. Also Virginia is awesome.

Really?  This women really gives me the sh!ts.  If I wanted a personal editorial on everything I would watch 7 or 9.

    • Daniel says:

      09:12am | 19/11/10

Virginia calls people out on their bullshit. And she is so much more bearable than Koshie or Karl. Those guys make me wan’t to slit my wrists longways.

    • Daniel says:

      07:30am | 16/11/10

oops, not so old. must be on crazy pills.

Still awesome. Just means she is human.

    • lea christie says:

She’s so professional that she didnt even stumble, but kept on delivering the news which is her job.  It certainly underscores why she has the job.

    • Dieter Moeckel says:

      08:36am | 16/11/10

Excellent, reading the auto cue without a stumble. Quick thinking and not a stumble. Anyone less talented would have aborted the reading with very embarrassing consequences.
      What a fabulous professional

    • Ann says:

Unlike the young female reporter I heard on local radio over the weekend.  Tried three times to start her news report before saying, “I’m sorry, I can’t read my handwriting…” and the quickly cut back to the newsreader.

There was a Sky News report over the weekend - something happend at Wallacia…but on the first spool the news reader said “Fellatio”. Lucky for rewind live TV cause I couldn’t believe it haha

    • Old Cobber says:

      12:59pm | 16/11/10

The blokes and sheilas down here at Buggerup reckon Virginia is Michael R
owlands in drag. And she is not an ABC leftie but A GREEN!! Uggh.  Also that “News show” is a good warm up for Play school.

    • TheRealDave says:

      02:53pm | 16/11/10

Professional to just keep on trucking? Or just plain too stupid to realise it?

    • Joel B1 says:

      03:43pm | 16/11/10

I see Virginia’s mug (yes, that pic)  on the Guardian (UK) comments page all the time. Either she’s got a sense of humour or someones being a bit mean.

    • Gerard says:

      04:35pm | 16/11/10

Well, she might have mistaken herself for another presenter, but at least she didn’t mistake the death of a TV character for news.

    • Adam says:

      09:56pm | 16/11/10

For all the time they’ve had to get their s… into gear you’d hope to god that it wasn’t some autocue fault. But seeing the way-too-frequent-for-serious-television errors I’m close to declaring that I’ve seen better quality production from a university news team or (I guess, redundantly) Channel 31

    • Nicky says:

      01:06am | 19/11/10

She made a mistake, didn’t harm anyone, obviously “Charles” and “Mr. Gray” have never made a mistake in their lives, perhaps they should sit in front of a national audience and read the news, how many mistakes later might we get the story? Love “Monty’s” comment, yes perhaps we should all look on the bright side of life!

    • shazz says:

      10:35am | 19/11/10

the thing that bugs me about trioli is she rarely lets a guest get a word in she asks a question and then follows it with a ramble of her own opinion mike rowland is her third co-host and the show hasnt finished it 1st year, always heave a sigh of releif when she is away and two of them are much better interveiwers then ms claptrap trioli

    • ibast says:

      10:58am | 22/11/10

I would agree with this.  Quite often she will ask an opinion of her co-host after an article and then bully them with her own opinion.

    • Sven says:

      03:13pm | 26/11/10

I think its funny how she always tries to throw in her two cents after the sports news, especially Le Tour De France, which she indicatively knows very little about.

    • Edward James says:

      10:44am | 22/11/10

When was the clip with the silly face removed from the ABC site ? Without it the story has no substance.

    • ibast says:

      01:05pm | 22/11/10

I think that was actually the Barnaby Joyce incident.

    • David C says:

Virginia Trioli, Deborah Cameron and Fran Kelly, the Witches of Pyrmont

    • Baz says:

She looks like a paid up member of The Loony Left

    • Ben says:

I love Virginia Trioli! she spices things up, what a minx

    • Shane says:

      07:14am | 07/12/10

I hope she was professional enough to realise her mistake but not let on.

I keep flashing on Frontline, however, and suspect that she was in a reading trance, and didn’t even notice smile

      05:14pm | 09/12/10

A funny thing happened to me the other day on Twitter:

I would love ABC News 24 if it wasn’t for Virginia Trioli. What a painful individual.
      @MattOsborn Seriously? I think she’s lovely! vt
@LaTrioli hahaha, I’m sure you are. It’s just the last two interviews I’ve seen you do were more abrasive than perhaps necessary.
@MattOsborn The job does require a little steel… But I hear you! vt
@LaTrioli I’m sure it does and I’m sure that having a cup of tea with you would be more enjoyable than being interviewed!

Strange that she would respond to this. I thought most TV types would adopt the Oscar Wilde mantra - the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

    • john says:

      03:43pm | 10/12/10

Agreed Matt she is excruciatingly painful to watch, your not alone with this view, its a view shared by many, She would be more suited to DEAL or NO DEAL show as one of the drones holding a briefcase at the start of the show smile  Perhaps they can add an extra case number 27 to accommodate.

    • Sam says:

      06:57am | 12/12/10

Huh I watched this and didnt see the incident…...

The 40 second mark just shows the abc news 24 intro…..

    • Michael O'Grady says:

      05:03pm | 07/01/11

      @ Sam

Try at the 44 second mark then. Seriously, did you just stop it after 40 seconds?
