Today The Punch introduces some new contributors from other media outlets who are traditionally regarded as competitors of News Limited, and re-introduces a couple who you may already know from our own stable of journalists.
As you’ll see from this post, ABC Lateline host Leigh Sales will be writing a fortnightly piece for The Punch in her capacity as Well Red-Head, the obsessive-compulsive reader who will steer you in the direction of some of the coolest stuff online, and even in the ye olde printed form, both from Australia and abroad.
From next week, the host of ABC Radio’s PM program Mark Colvin will also be writing for us. Leigh and Mark will take it in turns once-around every fortnight to share their insights with you.
Also today, The Australian’s deputy editor (business) Clive Mathieson will join us as a special business writer for The Punch. Shortly after the GDP figures lob at 11.30am today, Clive will file his debut piece about the recession we’re pretty much definitely in the middle of having. From here on in Clive will write for The Punch on Tuesdays and Fridays, and is working on a great piece for Friday nominating Pacific Brands CEO Sue Morphet as Australia’s businesswoman of the year.
Melbourne food writer and independent blogger Ed Charles, who runs the terrific website www.tomatom.com, joins us as a fortnightly food writer and opens the batting with a handy 11-point guide to spotting food wankers.
There’s also environmentalist Dan Cass, greenie-hating National Party MP John Cobb, digital media tragic Renee Creer, and Tele blogger Joe Hildebrand, who we found in the $1-a-week section of his local Blockbuster tossing up between renting Yentl or Orca, and who today premieres his inaugural $1-a-week cinema column with a review of The Terminator. Enjoy.
