Lara Bingle’s recently discovered that she only has three real friends to call on in her time of need,  but at least she’s capable of doing the right thing when it comes to engagement break-up etiquette.

As she told the Daily Telegraph this morning, she didn’t think twice about giving the $200, 000 ring back to Michael Clarke:

“I felt it was the right thing to do. It cost a lot of money and he works so hard to achieve what he does, I just thought that was the best thing.”

And according to The Knot wedding website that’s exactly what she should do. Because while legally there’s no real reason why you should hand it back, good etiquette demands that you do.

Even so, have you seen the ring? What would you do?

While it is definitely a big rock, I would like to ask the ladies out there is non-symmetrical really acceptable/desirable?

No I don’t think it is Rockasaurous - I don’t like the ring at all and perhaps her three friends agreed and that’s why she gave it back!

It’s legal prostitution isn’t it? You do your thing, you get bling.

If he broke up with her, then she should get to keep the ring. If they agreed to break up, or if she ended it - then she needed to return it.

It is a visible symbol of a contract - an engagement to marry. It is not equivalent to a birthday present, which is a clear gift. Once the marriage is no longer a valid prospect, the engagement itself is no longer valid, and its symbol ought to be returned to the purchaser. I am sure they divided their CDs and pot plants too.

i’d get it resized for starters.  rings that don’t fit are rings that don’t fit.  best it goes back to the jeweller to cause heartache for some other poor schmuck.

The whole episode appears to be a bit sad to me. Stand up anybody out there who hasn’t been through rough patches with their partner from time to time and thinks they are so bad they deserve to be pushed aside and publicly rejected like Lara has been.
Because she was so high profile she has felt the brunt worse than the average girl would.
Michael Clarke did not seem to show much dignity in the very public way in which he handled the situation.
He wasn’t exactly the type of guy that could spend much quality time with Lara and perhaps the whole thing was a mistake in the first place.. Don’t throw all the blame on Lara. She has come out of the relationship much worse off than the “innocent” and sometimes Spoiled little boy, Michael “pup” Clarke.
I will cop some flack from a lot of catty females after writing this which worries me little. All the best Lara. Move on !!

i completely agree with you, lara was 19 when she was with fevola, i cant even confess what i got up to at 19. When people are young they do stupid things, thats the beauty of being young, you get to do stupid things.

Fevola was a footy player and instead of him being a loyal husband he showed his true character and cheats on his wife, then some how she gets the blame??? she owes no loyalty to fevolas wife. Fevola must have some close contacts in the media to wing the angle they did but essentially he got away with it and she ended up loosing a lot out of it.

Don’t get me wrong, i dont think she’s sweet and innocent, she clearly has done some stupid things… but she is young!

The media has sabotaged this and exploited it in every way, girls do hate lara and if i was a girl i would probably hate her too, i mean how are you to compete with someone that has 1/10th her looks.
