The NSW Labor Party has taken advantage of the confusion caused by the impending end of the world to install its new preferred candidate as Premier. Upon taking office Godzilla told a press conference this afternoon he was committed to “EAT, KILL , DESTROY” as well as holding underperforming ministers to account.

Bow before our leader

The Punch received this from some creative individual this morning following Sydney’s freak dust storm. It’s amazing how quickly the viral pictures get made and circulated following a news event with any visual appeal today.

Not being in Sydney this morning I can only assume that the dust storm is in fact real, and not some hoax manufactured for the good of bored web designers.

Update:

Thanks for the photo then Ante, while fellow reader James has since alerted us to this contribution to the Sydney dust storm http://www.flickr.com/photos/ivanaclinton/3945420235/

Well on the brightside, he can’t be any worse than the pack of drongos who currently run the State.

Welcome Godzilla.I’m sure you’ll do a fine job.

I wish I had photoshop in my office. I’d have already inserted a Kanye West into that picture with a ‘LEO, IMMA LET YOU FINISH BUT, SYDNEY HAD THE BEST DUST STORM OF ALL TIME!!!’

If one of the IT boffins at thepunch does this in the next 15 minutes, I guarantee meme-ness within the hour.

I for one welcome our new reptillian overlords.

I cant believe that. My friend took that photo and asked me to resize it for web for him. I decided to put our friendly neighborhood Godzilla in it as a laugh, and now its gone viral.

Ante - we’re not friends, we just work together.

Ooooh, Mark in with the burn.

I thought the best crack of the day was that with Kevin Rudd out of the country and Julia Gillard in the hotseat, she decided it was time for Sydney Ranga Day.

@ Mark - nah, the best crack was made in NSW Parliament today; “Did someone open Joe Tripodi’s ICAC file this morning?” I guess you just had to be there.

Godzilla kicks up a bunch of dust just like Rees, only the Godzilla dust has an effect on CityRail - it makes their trains even dirtier…

Nice work Ante - love it.

I think Godzilla couldnt do any worse than what Rees and his deadwood mates are doing.

Love it, love it, love it…..except for Mark’s comment, totally unnecessary and spoiling the humour of the occasion.

The Japanese may lodge a protest if we adopt Godzilla as our Premier. Maybe we could allay their fears by giving them Nathan for their next sci-fi movie.

The present state government is a disaster that’s for sure but, what of the opposition? Godzilla looks really attractive as an alternative to both major parties. One has no policies after a decade or more in government and the other simply has no policies…..aaargh.
