Punchers are reminded to join us here in cyberspace from noon til 1pm this Friday July 30 for the second instalment of Friday Fight Club, where we’ll ask you who’s winning the election campaign and why.

To kick things off in the morning we will also be posting our weekly election diary pieces by Labor’s Richard Marles and Liberal Sophie Mirabella. Also if Kevin Rudd is reading this we’d love him to join in too with any old yarns about crazy stuff Julia used to say in Cabinet.

Simply come to the site at 12 and jump on our Coveritlive module, and go as hard as you like, but no spitting or bleating.

I won’t be there, but I’ll send a senior staffer instead. I don’t have to attend War Council anymore so he definitely has the time

The only bleating will be about the horrendous outfit that will be showcase of Australia at the next Miss Universe contest.

Ugg Boots with heels - what the hell were these people thinking?

As someone commented in another publication -it looks like a cross between a Mongol warrior and a flamenco dancer!

Latest poll has Coalition at 51 ALP at 49 and widening.

Gillard is in huge trouble.  Bets have been taken on her being the shortest reining PM of all time.

@Sam P, ah, the average yr 5 student who has done the annual pilgrimage to Canberra can tell you that Frank Forde was Australia’s shortest serving Prime Minister, and whilst Gillard’s start has been a bit shaky, she already has 4 times as much service as the Australia’s 15th PM

I’ve got a conflict today so I’ll have to miss it.  Clear winner to the Coalition this week though, with PPL, pensioners, leaks, climate change inaction, a strong Abbott performance in the debate and a haemorrhaging of the girl power vote for Labor.

      Biggest fail: Citizen’s assembly.

Biggest win: Julie Bishop’s stare-off on Chaser.

Have fun, and someone please give Zeta and Eric one in the eye for me.

If only the election debate was as entertaining as that Ibex video…

The Liberals under Abbott cannot be trusted. What did Fraser do to the elected Withlam government? Under Howard, Abbott demolished the health system, introduced workchoices and almost singlehandedly destroyed One Nation!
The Liberals changed leader three times and also had the shortest serving prime minister, John Gorton. They do not need to talk.
