If sport were food, this weekend would be the equivalent of a 17-course degustation. The menu? Two grand finals - back to back. Tonight: Collingwood vs. Geelong, at the MCG. Tomorrow night: Sea Eagles vs. New Zealand. The only question it seems is what to do between the games.

Die hard fans will be polishing their television screens, scraping down the BBQ and stocking the fridge. WAGS are deciding what dress to wear. Our lucky PM, one person guaranteed to get great seats at both games, will be traveling between then. Although she’s unlikely to be one of the poor suckers caught up in the Sydney/Melbourne airport chaos.

      Myself and a few mates gather shortly for a chicken and champagne AFL breakfast atop Mount Wellington in Hobart, after which we travel back to the house of the extremely unlucky bugger who drew the short straw for a barbecue lunch and afternoon come evening of endless alcohol and drug abuse.

      The football becomes a secondary blurred vision, the fighting takes centre stage and the women folk become endangered species…overall a wonderful day had by all.

      Sunday is usually a day of recovery sick  finding out who won the AFL final and the NRL final is an added couch bonus at the end of a long weekend!

      Geelong will win easily and Manly will hold the honour of being the first team to lose to the Kiwis in a grand final.

      also you have mis-spelt THEM wif a N at the end of a sentence in the middle of your article ,,just in case you want to fix it,,

      Football grand final day usually means that daylight saving in the south and cricket are on the way.  Bathurst as well - YEAH.  Good to do what you want to do, listening to the commentary, and when something happens watch the replays, then go back to whatever you’re doing.    grin

      Days are getting quite warm but nights still cool enough for the light doona only.  (Great sleeping)  Wont be long and all I’ll need is a sheet.

      As to football of any variety, sorry, got over it 20 years ago, got better things to do with my time.

      A) Australia is not a Christian country. The Constitution expressedly prohibits the promotion of a religion over another.
      B) If it is good enough for John Howard to deny schools money for not flying the flag, then it is good enough for the government to deny money to schools whose students sing an altered version of the national anthem
      C) What has Communism got to do with it? Don’t tell me you’re still afraid of reds under the bed. I didn’t think there were any communists left in Australia….
