Update 8.05am: The early birds have triumphed. All ten passes are accounted for. Sorry if you missed out - go see the movie anyway. Tors.

It’s hard to believe it’s Christmas Day this Friday, and The Punch is nearly 7-months-old. We’re here because of you, so thank you for that.

You may have noticed we’re a bit politically obsessed here, as it seems, are most of you. In the Loop is a movie for political tragics with a robust sense of humour (to call the language colourful is an understatement).

It’s out in cinemas here from January 21 - and the first 10 people to email me and ask (8.10am: they’ve all been allocated now, sorry) will get a double pass to see it.

In the Loop is a fictional depiction of how intelligence can be “sexed up” to justify a war. Which ever side you sit on that issue, you’ll still find it hilarious. I snorted some mineral water out my nose the other night when I watched it.

The story focusses on a hapless British Minister who is sent to Washington to “meet with as few people as possible.” The PM’s chief-of-staff is a particularly special character.

If you miss out on one of our passes, I recommend you get to see it anyway.

Over the next two weeks The Punch Christmas Team (Leo and me), will be trying to keep on top of everything, even if sometimes it’s done in between Test overs. If there’s anything you’d like us to take a look at email me (tors@thepunch.com.au) or Leo (shanahanl@thepunch.com.au).

Subscribers will be getting their daily email a bit later in the morning than usual. We’ll be back to full steam on January 4th.

Have an excellent Christmas and New Year.

I would like to say thank you Tory and the rest of the team for making “The Punch” As someone who enjoys news and opinion I think the site is awesome and everyday at some stage I always have a look.

Merry Christmas and thanks for keeping the Punch going at a time when most people have more time to read and contribute than normal.

Seriously but, I think you are one of the better contributors and I look forward to reading what you have to say.

Thanks, Tory, for The Punch. I think it’s the best site of its kind in Australia. Best wishes for a relaxing season for The Punch, even those unfortunate enough to have to work.

Ehoing what others have posted. grin

I also love this site! (just wish that perhaps the ‘comments’ would show up quicker - but appreciate that it also keeps the language naice, and the bogans away)

Have a safe and peaceful break, all @ The Punch. I hope there are no mamoth natural disaters looming (as seems to happen every xmas break). I’m also glad that Punch will be here over the break. I’m looking forward to catching up on stories I missed.

      Cheers All. Be safe.

Yes folks this site is pretty good for divergent ideas,POVs, idealism, ideology. Sometimes it gets a little heated, and some name calling, but most appear able to go with the punches, giving and taking.
Even though Rupert does own the site, I look forward to the latte-sipping lefties eventually running this site, along with everything else, as we are swept up in the glory and wonder of socialism after Rudd win s his second term, then our first gal PM Gillard takes over for the following electoral triumph. -what a wonderful age we live, and will live in.!!!!

As to this site, I like the content, but it really has to be technically one of the worst, most incompetent sites on the Web.  Slow, clunky, serious problems with actually trying to add a comment or read comments, overall a technical disaster.  Get your act together or you will lose a lot of readers and contributors.  Apart from that, Merry Xmas.

Like most top British comedy it relies primarily for its humour on dialogue rather than visual gags.

When the film was introduced at MIFF 09 it was described as a mixture of Monty Python, The Office and Yes Minister. It certainly lived up to this accolade with lots of laughs throughout.

If you’re in not good state and have got no cash to go out from that, you will have to receive the loan. Just because that will help you definitely. I get short term loan every single year and feel good just because of this.
