My brother once wore Ziggy Stardust Bowie make-up to school in year 10 to show his devotion to the great man, but this kid is going to turn into some kinda super stalker fan by the age of 10.

Personally I’m kinda torn on this video because I find eccentric music tastes of children very entertaining, but I also find yuppie parents who only play their kids hipster music very annoying. You can also see the mum manufacturing this thing for a youtube download when she starts asking the child how old he is.

Anyway, ultimately you have to come down on the side of the child that David Bowie is preferable to the other options before him, especially Nick Cave.

(Warning contains screeching of young child)

What a cool kid. He loves The Thin White Duke, and as this young American would say theres only one damn song that can make him breakdown and cry.
(and it wouldnt be penned by Ziggy or played by the spiders from mars.)
      Let all the children boogie.

This Child has obviously spent his / her (unclear which) childhood with the King of the Goblins, Jareth.

      Hoggle to the rescue.

I used to want David Bowie too. Something about him in those tight, tight pants in ‘The Labrynth’. It’s funny how you remember some things from the 80s… *shudder*

David Bowie was my first man crush…... tights and make up were my thing. I’ve always appreciated a shapely eyebrow.  Still do.

As cool as this kid is for liking Bowie, he loses a lot of cool points for not liking Nick Cave

To me, this article raises an interesting point—what level of involvement should parents have in guiding the musical taste of their kids?

I say musical taste because I’m happy to let my hypothetical children’s taste in other artforms evolve naturally, however that may end, but music is too important.

Not that liking pop is bad, but I think it’s important to instill patience and taste in deeper levels of music from a young age.

At least he was not screaming out for Justin Bieber!  I must admit that I am also a Bowie/Ziggy fan.

Have noticed the trend in some teens to acknowledge some 70-80s songsters.  I guess at least we have something we can still communicate with our teens if there is that shared interest.  My son loves Midnight Oil and of course ACDC.  He looks on in horror sometimes when I start singing along to some obscure tunes on GOLD; some of those lyrics are questionable (not only my singing) ...  Dead skunk in the middle of the road!

No, I WANT David Bowie. I may only be 30 and he, twice my age, but if he knocked on my door and told me “just to shut my mouth” my clothes would be on the floor faster than the Man Who Fell to Earth. Every time Jennifer Connelly rejects the goblin king with her cry of “you have no power over me” at the end of The Labyrinth my heart breaks.
I will always be jealous that when my mother was a young thing, she fought her way to the front of a David Bowies concert, during which, he leant towards the audience, cupped her cheek in his hand and sang to her. She will always be cool in my eyes on that basis alone.
The man will always be hot in my eyes no matter what, and his music is timeless.

Hey I totally agree. Bowie is really sexy in Labyrinth - go figure, cos he’s wearing tights and make-up, but I think it’s the sexy/dangerous vibe he has in that movie which is a real turn on. Check-out fanfiction.net for fan stories where Sarah/Jareth hook up. Some of them are pretty hot. wink

im sick of these parents exploiting the whining rants of their children for some personal youtube hit success. that was brutal. though not as bad as some of the 10000 other screaming kid videos. who wants to watch that?
